This image shows the V-Ring wrapping the matrix around to create a very good anatomical form.  Note how the V-Ring does not collapse inwards like many other retainer rings.  Also note that the wedge was on the palatal side but is now on the buccal.  The V-Ring is the only retainer ring that gives this flexibility.
