Triodent V3 System Cleaning
Triodent V3 System Cleaning and Maintenance Recommendations
V3 Rings
Remove bonding agents
If your V3 Ring has been heavily contaminated with bonding agent, soak it in alcohol for a few minutes to soften the bonding agents. You will now be able to scrape it off. A light smear of petroleum jelly before use will help prevent contamination.
Cleaning
Remove all visible debris - clean thoroughly after use and prior to sterilization. Manual cleaning can be done with soap or detergent and water, and a nylon brush. If using an automated cleaning method such as a washer-disinfector or ultrasonic bath, follow the manufacturer’s instructions
Sterilization
Only steam autoclave your V3 Ring.
Steam autoclave for one cycle at 132 - 134˚C (269.6 - 273˚F) and 2.10bar (210kPa or 30.46lbs/in2) for 4 minutes, following the autoclave manufacturer’s instructions. Never exceed temperatures of 137˚C (278.6˚F).
Avoid leaving the V3 Ring in an autoclave overnight or for long periods as this may cause staining from the autoclave itself.
DO NOT use chemical sterilization techniques. Chemi-claving chemicals such as amines (or other strong sterilization chemicals that contain amines) attack plastics. Ultrasonic cleaning fluids may also stain and damage the V3 Ring.
Maintenance: Retensioning your V3 Ring
Triodent Forceps have built in grooves for resetting V3 Rings. Place the V3 Ring between the groves/notches on the forceps’ handles and squeeze together.
General use notes:
- Open the ring only as far as needed to place it over the tooth. Avoid over-stretching the ring.
- Do not leave the ring open in the forceps for long periods of time. This will help the ring retain its shape and tension longer.
